God Destroys Assyria for Its Wickedness (10:5–19)
The Lord |
5Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger, 6I will send him against a godless nation, to take spoil, 7But such is not what he intends, because in his heart it is to destroy |

“Are not my princes all kings? 10As my hand has founded the kingdoms of the idols, 11Will I not do to Jerusalem and its idols, |

12But it will come to pass when the Lord has completed all His work |

I will punish the fruit of the great heart of the king of Assyria |

“By the strength of my hand and by my wisdom and I have [moved] the borders of peoples, like a mighty one, 14as one finds a nest, my hand has found the wealth of the people, and there was none that flapped the wing |

15Will the ax boast itself over him who hews with it? As if a rod is able to move the man who lifted it, 16Therefore the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, 17And the Light of Israel will become a fire 18And He will consume the glory of His forest 19And the remainder of the trees of His forest will be few, |
The Remnant of Israel Will Return (10:20–27)

20And it will come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel will no more again rely on him who smote them 21The remnant will return, 22For though your people, O Israel, will be as the sand of the sea, destruction has been decreed, overflowing with righteousness. 24Therefore thus says the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, |

33Behold, the Lord, the LORD of Hosts, will lop off the boughs with awe-inspiring power; 34And He will cut down the thickets of the forest with an ax, |
The Stump of Jesse Prophecy (11:1–5)

11 1And a rod will come forth out of the Stem {Trunk} of Jesse, 2And the Spirit of the LORD will rest upon him, the spirit of counsel and might, and fear of the LORD. and he will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, 4but with righteousness he will judge the poor but he will smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, 5And righteousness will be the sash of his loins |
