Abstract | Submitted to the 2021 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest. I painted the sacred grove in what I imagine it would have looked like in the spring of 1820. I painted a sugar maple sapling representing the beginning of the restoration of the gospel. I chose to paint a sugar maple because it is one of the trees that would have been growing in the sacred grove and it represents the sweetness of the gospel. The artist loves to play with paint. She enjoys the textures and layers that she creates with different pigments. She wants everyone to have as much enjoyment looking at her paintings as she did painting them, so she paints people and animals that are filled with character and landscapes that are peaceful and harmonious. She says that if you are going to hang something on your wall it should uplift your heart and make you smile. When she is not painting, you will find her chasing chickens in her backyard, dreaming of travel, telling bad jokes, and laughing with her family. |
