Abstract | In the trial of Abinadi, he is asked about the meaning of a prophecy from Isaiah. The priests of Noah, it seems, were trying to charge Abinadi with false prophecy based on the inconsistency of his message with the “glad tidings” promised by Isaiah. The priests and the people of Noah probably saw themselves as fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy. Abinadi respond with a vigorous defense that used Isaiah 53 to help properly interpret Isaiah 52:7–10. |
