Abstract | Latter-day Saints have three different scriptural accounts of the creation: one in Genesis, one in the Book of Moses, and one in the Book of Abraham. One might wonder, at first, why this is so. Several biblical passages provide clues that there were even more versions, suggesting that various Creation accounts were circulating among believers in the ancient world, and that the authors of the Old Testament apparently knew about them. Some of these accounts appear to be alluded to in the Book of Mormon, reminding us that it is valid to have multiple accounts of the creation story today, just as they do in the Old Testament and the Book of Mormon. |
