Abstract | Mormon was devastated by the decimation of his people in the final battle at Cumorah. He powerfully and poetically expressed his sorrow in a lament following traditional ancient Near Eastern patterns. Despite his sorrow, Mormon nonetheless expressed love not only for his fallen people, but also for his enemies, the Lamanites, whom he hoped to bring unto Christ through his record. |
