Abstract

Submitted to the 2021 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest.

I love the principle of establishing a house of prayer, fasting, faith, learning, glory, and order. This is where the sweetness of the gospel can prevail. It takes consistent and continual effort to do this in our own homes, and the temple is the pattern we can follow. If "order" is achieved, then the other attributes may be more likely to be there also. What better place to look to than the House of the Lord?

In drawing and watercolor painting this large (22" x 36") piece, I found that order was needed in sketching, drawing, refining, then painting, and then outlining. Hence the name!

The artist grew up in Wyoming, surrounded by mountains, farmland, and family. After years of folk art and acrylics, she began using watercolor four years ago during some trials her family was going through. The act of putting water to paper and paint to water continues to be a healing practice. She paints in Taylorsville, where she lives with her husband, and loves visits from her three daughters and six grandchildren.
