Abstract | In Helaman 10:17, even though they would not harken unto his words, the Lord had just given Nephi sealing power and great blessings. He went forth in the spirit, declared God's word, his love and available blessings. There had to be over whelming joy. The gospel is a declaration of God's love. The artist wanted a picture to show that overwhelming joy, well beyond what the world understands. This painting also depicts how the peace of the gospel is like a dove, but it also burns in us like a fire. Rodeny Stambaugh is a mechanic who always wanted to be an artist (no formal training). Seven years ago, he decided to be serious and spent several hours everyday drawing and painting. He may not be a member of the Church, but he has an iron-clad testimony of the book of Mormon, prophets, and apostles living and past. Submitted to the 2020 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest. |
