Folded Shroud
Mortality
that disguised godhood
was carefully covered
in this space
of burial and bier,
but the fabric
lies folded now.
Thieves would not
have left it thus.
In haste they’d
have let it fall
into sepulcher dust.
Early,
on this third-day morning,
the shape of all our fears
and sorrows disappeared.
Once-shrouded elements,
glorified, arose.
This cloth remains,
linen edges
pressed together.
The veil that covered
the face of God
lies folded here.
