Abstract | Honorable Mention in the 2021 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest. I wanted to show Joseph Smith bringing forth the Book of Mormon. Each panel depicts a scene from the Book of Mormon, and also depicted is Joseph Smith at the Hill Cumorah. Below that are significant scenes from Christ's life. Above Joseph Smith, Moroni is abridging the plates and above him is when Christ visited the New World after His death. The panels of the left from top to bottom are Alma the younger, Lehi giving thanks, the Tree of Life, King Benjamin, Nephi praying in his garden, Helaman and the 2000 Stripling warriors. On the right panel, Nephi studying the plates in the wilderness, Samuel the Lamanite, The Brother of Jared, Baptizing in the Waters of Mormon, Abinadi being burned by faggots, Captain Moroni and the Title of Liberty. All the writing is Mayan to the best of my knowledge and are the many names for Jesus. I served a mission in Guatemala and spoke Kekchi, the Book of Mormon title is in this Language and the Bible in Spanish. This is a painting and made to look like stained glass. Since her earliest memories, the artist has loved to create. It started when taking an art class in school and bloomed into a lifetime of creativity. She has tried every medium in paint, drawing, coloring, costumes and costume designs, sewing, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, rock collecting, and the list goes on an on. She loves to look at something and say, "I can make that!" When she is creating, she is the closest to her Creator. |
