| Abstract | This issue explores Mormon Christmas traditions from different perspectives. Richard Ian Kimball's article on Mormon pioneer holiday celebrations talks about Utah's early traditions—everything from plum pudding to gun salutes to Santa Claus. The influence of Dickens's A Christmas Carol on LDS fiction is dealt with in an article by Rosalynde Frandsen Welch. And Larry C. Porter discusses how different presidents of the Church celebrate Christmas and Joseph Smith's birthday. Equally fascinating articles vary in subject matter, such as the evacuation of Czechoslovakian and German missionaries during World War II and two articles discussing the Scotford-Soper-Savage Michigan Relics. |
