| Abstract | Most pre-Columbian cultures that archaeologists have discovered have been civilizations based on warfare, aggressive and competitive in nature. They are cultures familiar to Book of Mormon readers as having roots in societies that rejected the gospel. They result in blood sacrifice instead of the individual’s need for the personal sacrifice of a broken heart and contrite spirit. |
