By correlating details between Mormon’s letter (recorded in Moroni 9) and Mormon’s own record, it is possible to determine a narrow window of history in which Mormon likely wrote his letter. This type of internal consistency and realism provides evidence of the Book of Mormon’s historical authenticity. It also can help readers better understand the letter’s contents and why Moroni included it in his record after his years of loneliness.
