Abstract | Since the day the Book of Mormon was first published, the primary assumption has been that the ubiquitous and enigmatic “narrow neck of land” was an isthmus, either the Isthmus of Panama or, later, the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. In 1988, Dr. F. Richard Hauck broke with this traditional assumption and proposed that the narrow neck of land was not an isthmus. The purpose of this article is to show, from the Book of Mormon, that Hauck’s hypothesis is correct. |
