Abstract | Nephi claims to write in Egyptian, an idea that was viewed skeptically in Joseph Smith’s time. Today, however, over 200 examples of Egyptian writing are known from Israel and Judah, often mixed with Hebrew writing as well. Scholarly analysis of these writings suggests that Nephi phrase “learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians” is an apt description of such scripts. |
